Hey friends, c’mon!

FullSizeRender-1Trying a new fun thing with friends is such a joy!  Leaving with a memory + an awesome piece of handmade jewelry is even better!  At Meltdown Studio, we’re all about making metalsmithing accessible for all those who are interested in trying it.  We love nothing more than making jewelry dreams come true!  If you fall in love ((like we have, with this alluring artform)) maybe we’ll see you again for some more fun times!  And if not, we enjoyed getting to know you and helping you accomplish your goals.  Check out our private and semi-private classes, they’re tailored specifically for YOU!

ABQ the Magazine: Best of…

thumb_IOOZ3018_1024What a HUGE honor to have been selected in not one, but TWO categories for Albuquerque the Magazine’s 2016 “Best Of” issue.  Overall winner for Best Local Secret, and top five for Best Casual Jewelry.  Thank you ABQ the mag!!  We sure do appreciate all that you do, and we hope our best kept secret isn’t such a secret anymore!  😉

Tree of Life – Wire Twisting Class

We started off 2017 with another great class with guest instructor, Bevin Moon of Desert Moon Designs.  Bevin instructed our students on how to create their very own wire twisted Tree of Life Pendants, incorporating large cabochons.  As it turns out, this technique is FUN!!  We had a blast, and everyone went home with a completed pendant.  Bevin will be returning to Meltdown Studio soon with more great techniques, and she’s excited to share them with you!  Read more about this class here!

The winter break was wonderful! Some of us travelled, and some of us hunkered down at the studio and turned out some stunning pieces.  And ALL of us made plans and ideas about how to make 2016 our most creative and exciting year yet!

Wrapping it up in 2015!

What an exceptional year it has been!  Students from around the country sharing ideas, learning, creating, and above all, having FUN!  (Pictured below) Susie was in Albuquerque most of December for work, and decided to take on metalsmithing to create these gorgeous pieces for her friends for Christmas.  She visited the Cerrillos Turquoise mines and hand picked these exquisite stones for her buckles, and learned all about piercing, filing, soldering, texturing, and more.  It’s 2016, try something new!…

Wednesdays are for…WIRE!

The most fun and creative place to be is Meltdown Studio. Today I witnessed pick soldering trepidation turn to confident mastery, as my students turned wire into beautiful chains.

The most fun and creative place to be is Meltdown Studio, and I work there.  I am so grateful for this.  Today I witnessed pick soldering trepidation turn to confident mastery, as my students turned wire into beautiful chains.  These skills will continue to evolve.  And these artists will continue to do what they do best:  fill the world with beauty.
